Visual Inspection Checklist:

Here’s what to look for when your are inspecting your electrical appliances or equipment around the office or workshop.

Check for obvious external damage

Check defects- accessories, plugs or socket outlets

Check defects on connectors

Check supply cords

No exposed inner cords, external sheaths not cut abraded or damaged

Check cords are not tangled or exposed for tripping

All flexible cords are securely anchored

Powerboards: Indicator for ‘maximum load’ is visible & legible

Damaged Extension Lead

Extension lead is not correctly entered into the cable grip of the plug. This places excessive strain on the inner cable, creating a dangerous hazard.

Damaged Cords

Extension cord with a cut or nick in the outer cover exposing inner cable.

Charred Board

A powerboard that has been overloaded causing overheating and charring of socket. Note: Extreme fire risk.

Damaged Powerboard

Powerboard with the inner cables exposed at the board creating a connection hazard.

Dangerous Cabling

Extension cords under chair matting and creating unsafe environment in workplace.

Overloaded Powerboard

Overloading of power supply in an office environment. Extreme Fire Risk.

Damaged Appliances

Lamp has damaged anchoring point exposing the inner cable.
